Devils compete in Region II-4A track meet

Plaquemine Green Devils hit the road on Wednesday to compete in the annual Region II-4A meet, just one week before the annual State meet held at LSU.

Plaquemine Green Devils finished seventh overall with a score of 35.  Cecilia placed first at 97, Westgate at 92, Carencro at 84, Teurlings Catholic at 52, St. Thomas More at 49, Breaux Bridge at 42, Plaquemine at 35, St. Michael at 25, Belaire at 20, Beau Chene at 19, Opelousas and Tara at 13, Abbeville at 6, St. Martinville at 5, Woodlawn BR at 4 and Northside at 2.

The Lady Green Devils finished third overall with a score of 64.  Teurlings Catholic finished first in the women’s competition at 85, followed by St. Thomas More at 84, Plaquemine at 64, Northside at 57, St. Martinville at 54.5, Cecilia at 35.5, St. Michael at 32, Woodlawn BR and Abbeville at 30.5, Carencro at 30, Opelousas at 22, Westgate at 18, Beau Chene at 10, Breaux Bridge at 3 and Belaire at 2.

Lady Devil Aldrianna Dupree proved once again she was the best in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.83.  Devil Trey Williams came in third in the 100-meter with a time of 11.08.

Dupree also racked up a third place finish in the 200-meter at 26.03 and sixth in the 400 at 1:02.40.  Devil Andre Riley finished fourth in the 400 at 50.00.

Kaleb Schouest finished eighth overall in the 3200 meter run at 11:20.67 and Lady Devil Zambrelyn Ervin finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.05.

Both teams finished fourth overall in the 4x100 meter relay.  Plaquemine men came in at 44.97 and the women at 50.09.

Trey Trusclair finished third overall in the discus throw with a distance of 131’10”.  Lady Devil Jolin Passantino dominated the event and pulled out a second place finish at 117’09”.  Breanna Dillon came in fifth at 93’10”.  Passantino also claimed a fifth place finish in the javelin throw at 91’06”.

Lady Devil Kennedy Washington came in first place in the high jump with a height of 5’4”.  Devils Todd Harris and Andre Riley each finished in sixth at 5’10”.

Lady Devil Haylee Richard finished in fourth overall in the pole vault at 8’6”.

Todd Harris squeaked out a first place spot in the long jump by one quarter inch over second place with a distance of 21’4.75”.  Taejah Watkins came in third in the long jump for the Plaquemine women at 16’9.25”.  Watkins also pulled out a third place finish in the triple jump at 34’11.5”.

Those that qualified for state competitions will meet Saturday, May 6 at LSU for the LHSAA Championship track and field meet.
