Iberville athletes prepare for State track and field meet

Iberville athletes will compete in the annual State track and field meet at LSU this weekend.

Louisiana State University will once again host the annual LHSAA State track and field meet beginning Thursday, May 4 through Saturday, May 6 and several Iberville athletes are ready to compete.

Athletes from Iberville Parish 1A high school will compete in their qualified events on Friday, May 5.  Athletes representing Plaquemine High in 4A will compete Saturday, May 6.

East Iberville Tiger Lyndell Joseph and White Castle Bulldog will compete in the long jump and Lady Tiger Taylor Gordon and St. John Lady Eagle Samantha Fleniken will compete in the high jump.

Bulldog Quinton Johnson will represent White Castle in the triple jump, along with Tiger Lyndell Joseph.  Lady Eagle Margo Crockett will compete in the triple jump and Hannah Alexander will compete in pole vault for St. John.

Tiger Lester Joseph will represent EIHS in the discus throw and the Lady Tigers and Lady Bulldogs will compete in the girl’s 4x200 and 4x100 meter relay.  EIHS Tigers will also compete in the boy’s 4x200 and 4x100.

Lady Tiger Tristanny Simpson and Lady Eagle Annie McLin will run in the girl’s 100-meter hurdles event and Tiger Anthony Davis will compete in the boy’s 110-meter hurdles.  McLin and Davis will also run in the 300-meter hurdles.

Lady Tiger Destiny Jackson, Lady Bulldog Ariel Bell and Tiger Edward Smith will each compete in their respective 100-meter dash competitions.

Speedster Lady Bulldog Ariel Bell will also run in the 200-meter dash, along with Lady Tiger Destiny Jackson.  Tiger Edward Smith will run in the 200-meter dash.

Kicking things off for the Plaquemine Lady Green Devils on the Saturday 4A meet is Taejah Watkins in the long jump and triple jump, and Kennedy Washington in the girl’s high jump.

Todd Harris will compete for PHS in the boy’s long jump, Jolin Passantino in the girl’s discus throw along with Trey Trusclair in the boy’s discus throw.

Standout speedster Lady Devil Aldrianna Dupree will run in the girl’s 100-meter dash and the girl’s 200-meter dash and Devil Trey Williams will run in the boy’s 100-meter dash.

Field events will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by track events at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 5.  Saturday’s field events begin at 10:45 a.m., followed by track events at 2:30 p.m.
