Devils compete in 4A State meet

Plaquemine Green Devils and Lady Devils recently compete in the LHSAA 4A State track and field meet held at LSU on Saturday, May 6.
The Lady Devils earned an eighth finish in overall scoring with 28 points. First went to Edna Karr at 64, Benton at 39, Vandebilt Catholic 37, St. Thomas More 35, Ursuline Academy 34, McDonogh #35 34, Neville at 30, PLAQUEMINE at 28, Teurlings Catholic at 23 and Ben Franklin at 22.
Lady Devil Aldrianna Dupree claimed a top spot in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash events. She took the 100-meter event with a time of 11.77. Rikianne Patterson of Edna Karr followed at 11.91, Ederia Fergurson of Huntington at 11.91, Claudasha Watson of Northside at 12.05, Infiniti Bradley of McDonogh #35 at 12.22, and Kiana Johnson of Bastrop at 12.71.
Dupree claimed the 200-meter crown with a time of 24.41. She claimed the top spot over second place finisher Kiana Foster of Loranger at 24.84, followed by Claudasha Watson of Northside at 24.93, Trinity Benson of Salmen at 25.51, Rami Mitchell of St. Martinville at 25.64 and De’Asia Dixon of Huntington at 25.83.
Taejah Watkins earned the Lady Devils two more points after taking a fifth place finish overall in the triple jump with a distance of 35’7.25”. Keke West of Benton placed first at 38’6.5”, followed by Alysia Terry of Ursuline Academy at 38’4.5”, Helena Thibbs of Beau Chene at 37’2.75” and Taylor Davis of Benton at 36’7.75”.
Watkins just narrowly missed a sixth place finish in the long jump with a distance jumped of 16’8”. Sixth went to Woodlawn BR at 16’8.5”.
Kennedy Washington earned a fourth place finish in the high jump for the Lady Devil squad with a height of 5’4”. First went to Taylor Davis of Benton at 5’10”, followed by Alacia Myles of Edna Karr at 5’8”, Payton Phares of St. Thomas More at 5’4”.
Lady Devil Jolin Passantino earned the PHS team two more points after claiming a fifth place finish in the discus throw with a distance of 34.87 meters. First place went to Aliyah Ballott of Tioga at 37.37 meters, followed by Ashley Ducre of Lakeshore at 36.89, Rheagan White of Benton with 35.60 and Schrell Chevalier of Cecilia at 35.47 meters.
The Green Devils earned a 29th overall finish tied with McDonogh #35 and Tioga with four points scored. Cecilia took first overall with 55, Westgate with 49, Carencro with 46, Edna Karr with 44, St. Thomas More with 38, LaGrange with 26, Washington-Marion with 26, North DeSoto with 25, Neville with 23 and Teurlings Catholic with 18.
Devil Trey Trusclair just narrowly missed out on scoring a point for PHS after finishing seventh overall in the discus throw at 33.43 meters. Sixth went to Anthony Freeman of Neville at 39.20, first went to Hunter Bates of North DeSoto at 45.45.
The four Devil points came from Trey Williams after he claimed a fourth place overall finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.96. First went to Ryan Malbrough of Cecilia at 10.73, followed by Patrick Heard of Minden at 10.76, and Trejun Jones of Carencro at 10.90.
