Ashton “Woody” Cagnolatti has resigned as head football coach for St. John and has accepted a position as an assistant coach at Mississippi-based St. Stanislaus.

“I’ve been given an opportunity to coach alongside my step-brother, Josh Jordan, at St. Stanislaus and it’s something we’ve always talked about doing,” Cagnolatti said.  “So I feel now is the best time for me to take that opportunity.”

“Woody” Cagnolatti took the reins from former head coach “Cricket” Crockett last summer and led the Eagles to a 0-10 record in the 2016 season.

“I want to thank the St. John administration and the St. John community for the opportunity to lead these young men,” Cagnolatti added.  “I wish them all the best of luck next year and in the future.”

The school is currently seeking applicants for the vacant football coaching position.  Applicants should send resumes to St. John Principal Cherie Schlatre at
