LSU ranked No. 9 in preseason poll

BATON ROUGE - LSU is ranked No. 9 in Baseball America's preseason Top 25 released Monday morning.

The Tigers join seven other Southeastern Conference teams in Baseball America's poll including No. 7 South Carolina, No. 8 Mississippi State, No. 10 Vanderbilt, No. 21 Alabama, No. 23 Florida, No. 24 Texas A&M and No. 25 Arkansas.

Louisiana-Lafayette is No. 14, according to Baseball America. Virginia is ranked No. 1.

Collegiate Baseball released its poll a month ago and ranked LSU No. 3.

LSU lost seven of 11 pitchers and four starting position players from a squad last season that finished 57-11.

The Tigers return two preseason All-American selections in pitcher Aaron Nola and shortstop Alex Bregman.

LSU begins the season against New Orleans Feb. 14 at Alex Box Stadium.
