BATON ROUGE - LSU junior safety Ronald Martin, a product of White Castle High School, returned to action in the No. 6 Tigers’ 44-41  loss to Georgia at Sanford Stadium on Saturday after missing the SEC opener against Auburn.

Martin’s return was marked with a team-high seven tackles and the inclusion of Jr. to his nameplate.

It was an indication that he would like to go by his full name of Ronald Martin Jr. in honor of his late father, who passed away after a long battle with cancer the Friday morning before the game he missed.

Ronald Martin Sr. was 40. Martin Jr. asked the equipment staff for the change to pay tribute to him.
