LSU baseball score vs. New Orleans: Live updates from final game before SEC play

BATON ROUGE - No. 1 LSU baseball continued its winning ways as it smashed New Orleans at Alex Box Stadium on Tuesday, 16-0.

The Tigers (16-1) scored seven runs in the sixth inning to blow the game open after taking a 3-0 advantage in the fifth off of a three-run home run from Tommy White.

Dylan Crews, White, Hayden Travinski and Gavin Dugas all had two-hit games, as Dugas also blasted a home run.

Chase Shores earned the start, allowing just two hits in 2⅓ innings pitched. But the star on the mound was Garrett Edwards, who struck out five batters in 3⅔ innings pitched.

New Orleans (11-6) was on a four-game winning streak heading into Tuesday after defeating Southern last Wednesday and sweeping Mississippi Valley State this past weekend.

Before Tuesday, LSU earned a three-game sweep over the weekend against Samford. LSU had a trio of run-rule seven-inning victories, defeating the Bulldogs 11-1 on Friday, 12-0 on Saturday and 13-1 on Sunday.

LSU begins conference play starting this Friday at Texas A&M.
