* Ragin’ Cajuns return man Chris Smith has earned first-team honors, safety Bralen Trahan third-team recognition and defensive lineman Zi’Yon Hill honorable mention on Pro Football Focus’ 2020 All-American team. Smith also earned CBS Sports/247sports.com All-American honors as a kicker returner Wednesday.

* Starting UL center Shane Vallot, a Comeaux High product, was among 67 nationwide nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy, presented annually to “the most outstanding football player who began his career as a walk-on.” The list has since been trimmed and Vallot was not a finalist.

* UL’s offensive line was named one of 11 semifinalists for the Joe Moore Award, which recognizes the country’s top unit. Other semifinalists: Alabama, Buffalo, BYU, Coastal Carolina, Iowa, Iowa State, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Texas A&M. The list of finalists was cut to Alabama, Texas A&M and Notre Dame.
