Update: Louisiana's Ferrod Gardner leaves with injury against Texas Longhorns football


Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns linebacker Ferrod Gardner left with an injury in the second quarter against the Texas Longhorns on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Gardner came out of the game with 3:15 left in the second quarter. He was injured tackling Texas receiver Jordan Whittington.
Texas led 7-3 at the time Gardner came out of the game. Texas went on to win the game 38-18.
Gardner had three tackles before leaving the game.
Jourdan Quibodeaux replaced Gardner in the game.
Gardner did not return to the game after the injury. Jay Walker reported on the radio broadcast that he was walking with crutches after the game ended.
Initially after the injury, Gardner walked off the field with assistance. The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns radio broadcast reported shortly before halftime that a cart was brought out to help Gardner leave the sideline.
Texas, ranked No. 19 in the USA Today Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, improved to 1-0 overall. The No. 23-ranked UL Ragin' Cajuns went to 0-1 overall.
After the game, Texas leads the all-time series 3-0 vs. Louisiana.
