Who should the Volunteers hire as football coach if they fire Jeremy Pruitt?
Jeremy Pruitt's future keeps twisting in the wind as the investigation continues into whether his Tennessee football program committed NCAA violations.
UT has hired expert lawyers Mike Glazier and Kyle Skillman to assist in the investigation, which is the latest blow for an embattled coach who has a 16-19 record through three seasons.
Although Pruitt remains the coach, until Tennessee puts forth a definitive sign that he'll remain the coach for the 2021 season, speculation will linger about potential replacements if Tennessee opts for a coaching change.
On this edition of "The Volunteer State," Blake Toppmeyer and John Adams of the News Sentinel discuss some coaching names of intrigue, should the job become open, and what they would think of those potential hires.
Before they banter about coaches, though, they discuss the impact of Tuesday roster developments: Cornerback Bryce Thompson declared for the NFL Draft, and running back Ty Chandler entered the transfer portal. Although both were productive players, Toppmeyer describes one departure as stinging much more than the other.
And they discuss what the involvement of Glazier, a veteran hand at helping universities navigate athletics investigations, means for Tennessee and Pruitt.
