South Carolina football honors women's basketball championship team at halftime vs. Georgia
COLUMBIA — The South Carolina marching band introduced the women's basketball team at halftime of the Gamecocks' football game vs. Georgia with three formations: 2022, followed by CHAMPS, then an NCAA tournament bracket.
Coach Dawn Staley and the South Carolina women's basketball team were honored Saturday as the 2022 national champions while the football team trailed Georgia 24-0 at halftime. The Gamecocks went 36-2 in 2021-22 and knocked off longtime rival UConn in the NCAA championship game to win the program's second title.
Senior Zia Cooke was also the celebrity starter for South Carolina football and led a pregame Gamecocks cheer in front of a sold-out crowd at Williams-Brice Stadium.

The 2021 consensus college women's basketball MVP, Aliyah Boston, was not in attendance. Boston is preparing to compete for USA Basketball at the FIBA World Cup in Sydney beginning Sept. 22.
