Former North DeSoto standout Emily Henderson named softball coach at Glenbrook
Former North DeSoto standout Emily Henderson has been named softball coach at Glenbrook School in Minden.
Henderson, who was key in consecutive Class 4A state titles won by the Lady Griffins, became an NJCAA first-team All-American at NCAA Division II LSU-E before finishing her career at Southeastern Louisiana.
“I am looking forward to taking over the Glenbrook softball program. This was a great opportunity I could not pass up,” Henderson said. “We are making the transition to LHSAA this year, which I felt was a great time to take the job and get the ball rolling with the type of program I run.

“Glenbrook made a mark in the Mississippi league the past few years winning a state title, so I plan on getting started right where they left off. I am very grateful for this opportunity and look forward to watching my athletes succeed not only on the field but in the classroom as well.”
Glenbrook hit 19 home runs, the fourth most in the country, in leading LSU-E to the 2017 national title. She hit .374 with 51 RBIs and 65 runs. Her squeeze bunt in the title game pushed across the winning run.
The 2016 Times Sports Awards winner hit nearly .400 at North DeSoto during her senior campaign.
“No one will outwork her, out-prepare her or love those kids more than Emily,” former North DeSoto coach Lori McFerren said. “She was an elite high school player and never lost her love for the game. She always gives her all.”
