RANKED TEAMS: Shreveport area high school football teams and their ranking

SHREVEPORT GAMES: Here's a look at games in the Shreveport area Sept. 15-17

Calvary at (1-1) Byrd (2-0)

When: 7 p.m., Thursday

The Cavaliers play an LSWA Class 5A ranked opponent for a second consecutive week, and Byrd’s run game is probably as good as it’s been in several years. Calvary is a talented 2A club, but the Jackets are too much to handle.

Watson’s prediction: Byrd 44, Calvary 24

Green Oaks (0-2) at BTW (0-2)

When: 5 p.m., Saturday

Shreveport’s annual Soul Bowl doesn’t get any more competitive than this. The Giants and Lions are desperately needing a win, so they’ll likely let it all out.

Watson’s prediction: BTW 21, Green Oaks 20

Airline (0-2) at Northwood (1-1)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

The Falcons are built to make a run at the LHSAA Class 4A state title, while Airline is rebuilding under Justin Scogin. Edge to the Falcons this time around.

Watson’s prediction: Northwood 28, Airline 24

Bossier (0-2) at Parkway (2-0)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

The Panthers are taking advantage of the one-two punch of Ashton Martin’s arm and Jaylan White’s legs. It’ll be too much for the Bearkats.

Watson’s prediction: Parkway 48, Bossier 14

LSWA POLL: Which Shreveport area teams are ranked statewide?

Captain Shreve (2-0) at Union Parish (2-0)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

The Gators won this one 21-20 in Shreveport last season, but winning is never easy for visitors to Farmerville. Trey Holly versus Jayden Edwards might be a matchup for the ages.

Watson’s prediction: Union Parish 28, Captain Shreve 24

Haughton (2-0) at Many (2-0)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

Football rules the world in Many with Tackett Curtis and Jeremiah James as formidable opponents. The Bucs’ Colin Rains should keep this game close.

Watson’s prediction: Many 33, Haughton 30

Captain Shreve vs. Calvary Thursday evening at Lee Hedges Stadium.

Neville (1-1) at Huntington (1-1)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

The Raiders may have their best chance at an upset of the perennial Class 4A title contenders, but the Tigers are still favored.

Watson’s prediction: Neville 35, Huntington 28

Loyola (0-2) at North DeSoto (2-0)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

The Flyers are better than their record indicates, but the Griffins have their best team in several seasons. And Stonewall is a tough place to play with the support NDHS achieves.

Watson’s prediction: North DeSoto 48, Loyola 17

North Caddo (2-0) at Bolton (1-1)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

The Bolton coaching staff may be rethinking scheduling the Titans this fall after seeing what Omarion Miller and KJ Black have done to opponents in the first two games.

Watson’s prediction: North Caddo 45, Bolton 21

Minden (0-2) at North Webster (0-2)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

This was a toss-up game last season with the Crimson Tide winning by a TD. It could go either way again, but Minden may have a little more firepower.

Watson’s prediction: Minden 28, North Webster 24

Last Week: 8-2; This year: 17-3 (.850)
