LHSAA summer meeting discusses football playoffs

Staff report

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association executive committee began its annual three-day summer meeting at the organization's offices on Wednesday.

In January, LHSAA member principals passed a proposal that would split football championships between select and nonselect schools.

The executive committee also was expected to decide championship sites for five sports including baseball and boys and girls basketball on Wednesday.

A total of 11 recommendations will be addressed by the committee as well as the hiring of an assistant executive director.

One proposal calls for five playoff divisions for nonselect schools and two for select schools. The school relations committee recommended five playoff divisions for both select and nonselect schools.
