PLAQUEMINE – Plaquemine Senior High School held their first informational meeting to create a Green Devil Booster Club July 11 in the Gymnasium.

Plaquemine athletic director Scott Allen said the booster club will support athletic programs at the school.

"We had a good crowd," Allen said. "This was just the first intial one and we probably had 100 people show up.

"There is a lot of interest. Without a doubt."

Allen said another meeting is scheduled for July 25 at 6 p.m.

It is unclear when Plaquemine High last had a booster club.

"From what I understand they had one in the 1990s and 2000s and with the ins and outs of football coaches and athletic directors it went by the way," Allen said.

Allen said the meeting featured a "good mix" of support from both Plaquemine Senior High School and the Math, Science and Arts Academy.

"It will help us in a bunch of different areas," Allen said. "We hired a new band director."

According to the LHSAA, Plaquemine offers the sports of football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, softball, soccer, track and field, cross country, swimming and wrestling.
