Father Dugas, Sam Distefano, Bayou Plaquemine tourneys begin today

PLAQUEMINE – There will be plenty of chances to catch a local baseball or softball game this week with three tournaments on the schedule to be hosted in the area.
The Father Dugas Memorial Tournament will run Thursday through Saturday at St. John the Evangelist High School, while the Sam Distefano Classic will also run Thursday through Saturday at Plaquemine Senior High School.
The Bayou Plaquemine Classic softball tournament hosted by St. John and Plaquemine will also run Friday through Saturday.
The Sam Distefano Classic begins Thursday at 4 p.m. with Plaquemine vs. White Castle. Plaquemine vs. Madison Prep kicks off Friday’s action at 3:30 p.m. followed by White Castle vs. Independence at 6 p.m. White Castle vs. Madison Prep opens Saturday’s play at 10 a.m. before Independence vs. Madison Prep at 12:30 p.m. and Plaquemine vs. Independence at 3 p.m.

Catholic Pointe Coupee vs. Ascension Episcopal kicks off Friday’s action at 3:30 p.m. followed by Assumption vs. Catholic Pointe Coupee at 5:45 p.m. and St. John vs. Assumption at 8 p.m. Ascension Episcopal vs. Ascension Catholic opens play Saturday at 9:30 a.m. before Mangham vs. Catholic Pointe Coupee at 11:45 a..m., Ascension Episcopal vs. Mangham at 2 p.m., Assumption vs. Covington at 4:15 p.m. and St. John vs. Covington at 6:30 p.m.
The Bayou Plaquemine Classic kicks off at St. John at 3 p.m. with Mangham vs. St. John followed by Patterson vs. St. John at 5 p.m. and Mangham vs. Central at 7 p.m. Saturday’s games include Patterson vs. St. James at 8 a.m., Christian Life vs. St. James at 10 a.m., Central vs. St. John at noon, Christian Life vs. Mangham at 2 p.m. and St. Michael vs. St. John at 4 p.m.
St. James vs. St. Michael opens play at Plaquemine on Friday at 3 p.m. followed by Plaquemine vs. Christian Life at 5 p.m. Saturday’s games begin at 10 a.m. with Plaquemine vs. Mangham followed by St. Michael vs. Patterson at noon and Plaquemine vs. Central at 2 p.m.
