War Eagles drop Catholic - P.C., Dunham in tourney

PLAQUEMINE - St. John the Evangelist High School defeated Catholic - Pointe Coupee 3-2 Friday and Dunham 10-9 Saturday before falling to Brusly 13-0 on Sunday in a tournament hosted by the Eagles.

The Eagles (10-4), under coach Heath Whittington, also defeated West St. John 3-1 Thursday to open District 8-1A and host White Castle Thursday and Northside Friday.

Hayden Hemenway was 1-for-3 with two runs against West St. John. Gavin Landry scored one run, Christopher Patin had two RBIs and Brandon Noel one.

Hemenway was 2-for-3 with a RBI and run against Catholic - P.C. Hunter Schnebelen (RBI), Noel and Landry were each 1-for-3 and Patin was 1-for-4 with one RBI.  

St. John scored three runs in the fifth and seventh innings.

Hemenway batted 4-for-5 with three RBIs and one run against Dunham. Mason LeBlanc was 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, while Justin Maranto was 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Patin scored two runs and Bryce Rivet and Colby Sadden each one. Bailey Whittington was 1-for-4 with one RBI.

St. John scored one run in the first and third innings, two in the second and three in the fifth and seventh.
