PLAQUEMINE – St. John the Evangelist High School continued to roll through District 8-1A play with an 11-1 victory over Ascension Christian Tuesday and 10-0 win over White Castle Thursday.

The Eagles (12-4, 3-0), under coach Heath Whittington, also defeated East Iberville on Tuesday. St. John hosts Ascension Catholic Thursday to decide first place in league standings, city rival Plaquemine Saturday and West St. John Tuesday.

St. John players include Hunter Schnebelen, Brandon Noel, Christopher Patin, Jacob Maranto, Justin Maranto, Hayden Hemenway, Bailey Whittington, Colby Sadden, Gavin Landry, Mason LeBlanc, Dylan Tempanaro and Bryce Rivet.

The Eagles are No. 3 in unofficial power rankings released by the LHSAA behind Central Catholic and Quachita Christian.
