Post 160 set to compete in American Legion

BRUSLY - The Brusly based "Spillway Sportsman" American Legion Post 160 baseball team opened the 2014 season on Wednesday.

The team is composed of 19-year-old and under players from Iberville, Pointe Coupee and West Baton Rouge Parish schools.

Livonia High School’s Jason Lemoine will be the coach.

Post 160 team entertains Gonzales based 2013 American Legion State Champion Gauthier & Amedee on Thursday at 6:30 p.m..

The 2014 schedule includes June 2 Ponchatoula (Away); June 3 Ponchatoula (Home); June 5 Hannan (Home); June 9 Gauthier/Amedee (Away); June 10 Salmen (Away); June 12 Gauthier/Amedee (Home); June 16 Ponchatoula (Away); June 17 Hannan (Away); June 19 Mandeville (Away); June 23 Mandeville (Home).  

Playoffs begin June 24 with the east division consisting of Mandeville, Hannan, Salmen and the West Division consisting of  Ponchatoula, Gauthier/Amedee and Spillway Sportsman.

There will be a reunion of former players from the three-parish area at the Thursday game to gather information and share stories from the past.
