Green Devils place six on 6-4A all-District baseball first team

PLAQUEMINE - Plaquemine Senior High School advanced to the postseason for the fourth consecutive year.

The Green Devils finished the season 15-9  overall and were 3-3 in district play under coach Scott Allen to finish runners-up. Plaquemine fell to Edna Karr in the first round.

Selected to the All-District first team recently from Plaquemine were pitcher Joseph Keller, infielders Austin LeJeune and Dalton Brigalia, outfielder Julius Maracalin, catcher Chris Cox and utility player Ethan King.

Earning second-team honors were infielder Orlando Batiste and outfielder Brian Jordan.

Keller posted a 7-3 record on the pitcher’s mound with a 2.21 earned run average and 77 strikeouts. He also hit .535 with five home runs, four triples, eight doubles and 43 RBIs.

Brigalia also posted a 7-3 record with a 2.02 ERA and 71 Ks. He hit .313 with one double, five runs and one RBI in district.

Maracalin hit .450 with one double, three triples, one home run, 10 runs, seven RBIs and four stolen bases in district.

LeJeune also batted .450 with two home runs, six RBIs and runs and one stolen base. Cox hit .235 with one double and two RBIs.

King hit .529 with six runs, three RBIs and three stolen bases in district, while Jordan batted .267 with five runs and two stolen bases.

Batiste hit .188 with one home run.
