Plaquemine High's Green Devils defeated twice by Lutcher High in games last week

Plaquemine High’s Green Devils lost to Lutcher High in back-to-back games last week,, falling 12-4on Tuesday 11-0 Thursday.

After gaining a slight 1-0 edge in the first inning in Tuesday’s game, the Green Devils couldn’t keep up. Lutcher High scored three runs in the fourth inning and never lost the lead afterward.

Lutcher High struck again in the seventh inning with four more runs on hits by Dylan Hymel and Mason Keller.

Landon Lambert was the winning pitcher, giving up nine hits and four runs during his seven innings on the mound.

Drake Brigalia took the loss for the Green Devils after allowing eight hits and eight runs over his six inning tenure on the mound, then Mason Landry relieved him to pitch an inning.

The Green Devils weren’t ineffective at the plate, slamming nine hits in the loss. Joe Hamilton earned three hits in his four at-bats to lead the Plaquemine High offense, while Daniel Lathan provided firepower with multiple hits. 

On offense, Lutcher High totaled 10 hits for the day with several batters adding multiple hits to their statistics in the win. 

In Thursday’s game, the Green Devils never had the lead and never scored on the way to suffering an 11-0 loss.

Lutcher High jumped on an early lead in the first inning with three RBI singles, groundouts by Rhett Whitney and C.J. Cullen that scored runs.

Herman Christophe provided one of the only highlights for the Plaquemine High offense with a single in the first inning. Jvonte Powers got another hit for the Devils later in the game.
