McKinley tops WCHS

LHSAA Class 1A White Castle fell to 5A McKinley 66-41 on Monday at home and to 5A New Iberia 55-40 on the road in Iberia Parish Friday in non-district play.

The Bulldogs (2-6), under coach Troy Green, have lost six straight games after opening the season with two victories. White Castle hosted 3A St. James on Monday night before traveling to 3A Livonia on Friday and hosting 1A Central Catholic of Morgan City on Monday and 4A Assumption on Wednesday.

White Castle led 13-11 going into the second quarter before McKinley went ahead 25-18 at halftime and extended it to 50-26 going into the fourth quarter.

DeAndre Bellock led the Bulldogs with a game-high 19 points against McKinley. Samson Westley added seven, Robert Franklin and JaCory Washington each four, Swayne Edwards three and Omari Haggens and Marcellis Coleman each one.

Leonard Daniels led the Panthers (4-3) with 19 points. Keyon Smart added 11, Randall Farlow 10 and Malique Odom eight.

Odom hit two 3-pointers and Bellock one.

New Iberia defeated the Bulldogs 47-23 earlier in the season in the White Castle Tournament final.
