Lady Bulldogs split with EA, Woodlawn

White Castle of Class 1A defeated 5A Woodlawn-B.R. 56-54 on Wednesday in Baton Rouge before falling to 5A East Ascension 45-36 on Friday in Gonzales.

The Lady Bulldogs (10-10), under coach Tammy Washington-Pierce, opened District 9-1A play at Ascension Christian on Tuesday before traveling to St. John on Friday and hosting Ascension Catholic on Tuesday.

Woodlawn jumped out to a 13-11 first quarter lead before going into the half ahead 33-26 but the Lady Bulldogs took the lead 46-40 heading into the fourth.

Erica Jones led White Castle with 23 points. Skylar O'Bear added 12, Shylar O'Near 10, Blessing Franklin five, Alaina Williams four and Ashanti Knight two. Jones, Skylar O'Bear and Shylar O'Bear each had two 3-pointers.

Andrea Hilton led Woodlawn (10-8) with 23 points, while Brianna Smith added 14 and Adrianna Williams 12.

The Lady Bulldogs trailed 13-11 going into the second quarter against East Ascension but took the lead 22-14 at the half before going into the fourth up 29-28.

Skylar O'Bear led White Castle with 15 points including two 3-pointers, while Jones added 14, Williams five and Franklin two.

Jerrica Williams led the Lady Spartans (9-6) with 18, while Jasmine Nicholas added 15.
