St. John of Class 1A defeated 2A Redemptorist 55-48 on Friday night in non-district play in Baton Rouge.

The Lady Eagles (7-10), under coach Chase Mancuso, also defeated 2A Runnels 37-28 and 2A Dunham 29-27 in the Episcopal Christmas Classic before falling to 3A Brusly 72-29 on Wednesday. St. John opened District 9-1A play on Tuesday at Ascension Catholic before hosting White Castle on Friday and traveling to West St. John on Tuesday.

Jessie Brown had a game-high 20 points against Redemptorist (5-15), while Shelbi Strickland added 13 and Kamryn Theriot 12.

Brusly (10-8) led 36-17 at halftime and were led by Donkita Williams with 21 points. Shedricka Pierson added 15 and Madison LaPrairie 14.

Strickland led St. John with 14 points. Brown added 10, Payton Passantino eight and Theriot five.

Against Runnels, Strickland led the Lady Eagles, which led 21-11 at the half, with 14 and Theriot added 11. Strickland and Theriot each had 10 against Dunham, which trailed 15-7 at the half.
