Tigers drop WSJ, ACHS to open district

East Iberville edged West St. John 50-48 in the District 9-1A opener on Tuesday before dropping Ascension Catholic 102-63 on Friday night in Donaldsonville.

The Tigers (9-10, 2-0), under coach Doug Schultz, host St. John Friday and White Castle Tuesday after traveling to Ascension Christian on Tuesday.

West St. John led 18-12 going into the second quarter and 23-21 at the half before East Iberville took a 42-35 lead into the fourth.

Jayden Reddit led the Tigers with 17 points. Daryl Ingram added 13, Tyler James and Frank Broussard each six and Javon'te Sherman and Ouante Johnson each four.

Morell Bartholemew had a game-high 20 points for West St. John (3-8, 1-1). Quan Scott added 13 including three 3-pointers.

East Iberville exploded out to a 34-9 first quarter lead and led 72-18 at halftime over Ascension Catholic before going into the fourth ahead 86-38. The Tigers made 10 3-pointers in the contest.

Ingram had a game-high 22 points for East Iberville. Jachia Scott added 21, Broussard 15, Redditt 10, James and Johnson each eight, Kris Grace six, Braylen Dailey three and Junius Chong two. Sherman had four treys and Broussard two.

Kaleb Winchester and Gilbert Allen each had 16 points to lead Ascension Catholic (7-14, 1-1). Cleveland Fefie added 13 and Patrick Butler 10.
