Green Devils defeat Belaire, Lutcher

Plaquemine picked up two District 6-4A victories last week defeating Belaire 73-44 at home on Tuesday night before dropping Lutcher 71-61 on Friday night in St. James Parish.

The Green Devils (16-8, 3-3), under coach Kirby Loupe, now sit in a tie with St. Michael the Archangel for third place in district standings behind Istrouma and Tara. Plaquemine travels to the Trojans on Friday night following a bye on Tuesday and hosts Broadmoor Tuesday.

Plaquemine led 17-12 going into the second quarter before increasing the lead to 41-20 at the half against Belaire and taking a 49-33 advantage into the fourth.

Davon Godchaux led the Green Devils with a game-high 20 points against Belaire. Clifton Young added 16, Devante Marshall 12, Daryle Tillman five, Deon Harding four, Louis Conerly three and Charleston Spears, Kirkland Jones and Joseph Jordan each two.

Ryan Alexander led Belaire (3-19, 1-5) with 15 points. Marshall Smothers added 12, Robert Toney nine and Brian Augustus five.
