Plaquemine splits with Lady Bengals, Bulldogs

Plaquemine split District 6-4A games last week falling to Belaire 34-32 at home on Tuesday night before rebounding to defeat Lutcher 33-22 on Friday night in St. James Parish.

The Lady Green Devils (7-13, 3-3), under coach Brannon Dillon, now sit in sole possession of fourth place in district standings behind undefeated St. Michael the Archangel and Belaire and Broadmoor. Plaquemine travels to Tara on Friday after moving out of league play by hosting Episcopal – B.R. on Tuesday and will host Broadmoor on Tuesday.

Belaire jumped out to a 14-3 lead going into the second quarter before taking a 17-5 halftime lead but Plaquemine knotted it up at 17 heading into the fourth.

Amber Smith led Plaquemine with a game-high 16 points. Jimara Russ added eight, Asia Marshall six, and O'Neisha Batiste two.

Terralyn Dominick led Belaire (12-8, 5-1) with 12 points. Nikki Young added eight ad Kiera Matthews seven.
