WCHS' Bellock, EIHS' Schultz headline all-District 9-1A team

East Iberville won the District 9-1A title outright for the first time in Doug Schultz's tenure and White Castle advanced to the LHSAA Class 1A quarterfinals for the sixth consecutive season in DeAndre Bellock's senior season.

Bellock was selected District MVP after the Bulldogs went 17-11 overall and finished runner-up with an 8-2 mark before falling to state champion Metairie Park – Country Day in the quarterfinals. Bellock led White Castle by averaging 23 points per game, six rebounds and two blocks and steals per game.

Schultz was chosen Coach of the Year after leading the Tigers to a perfect 10-0 league record to claim the District 9-1A title and finished 16-12 overall record after falling to quarterfinalist Houma Christian in the regionals.

Three players each from East Iberville and White Castle were selected to the All-District teams. Bellock was joined on the first-team by East Iberville seniors Darryl Ingram and Jayden Redditt, White Castle sophomore Moses Young and Ascension Catholic freshmen Kaleb Winchester.

Ingram averaged 17 points per game and 4.5 assists, while Redditt scored 13.5 points per game and added six rebounds.

East Iberville senior Frank Broussard and White Castle sophomore Swayne Edwards were joined on the second-team by Ascension Christian senior Tyler Kuhn, West St. John junior Jordan Hamilton and sophomore Morell Bartholomew.

Earning honorable mention from East Iberville were Javonta Sherman, Braylon Dailey and Tyler James. Honorable mention selections from St. John includes Hayden Hemenway and Brennan Miller.
