Lady Tigers, Eagles compete in Episcopal Classic tourney

BATON ROUGE - East Iberville and St. John the Evangelist High Schools competed in the Episcopal Classic basketball tournament last week.
The Lady Tigers (0-10), under coach Cormanda Grace Green, fell to Merryville 58-31 on Friday before falling to host Episcopal 33-31 and Dunham 47-46 on Saturday after dropping a 63-48 contest to Dutchtown on Wednesday.
The Lady Eagles (2-10), under coach Chase Mancuso, fell to host Episcopal 40-9 and Welsh 47-22 on Friday before falling to Merryville 65-36 on Saturday.
Jasmine Mosby led East Iberville against Merryville with 20 points. Taylor Green added 12 as Merryville led 29-19 at halftime.
Mosby had 16 against Episcopal as the Lady Tigers led 18-17 at the half. Washington added 11. Mosby finished with 27 against Dunham, which led 23-17 at halftime.
Payton Passantino led the Lady Eagles with six points against Episcopal, which led 14-6 at the half. Passantino had 10 against Welsh, which led 24-10 at halftime, and 17 against Merryville, who led 32-22 at the half.
Dutchtown built a 19-12 lead in the first quarter against the Lady Tigers before extending it to 29-18 at the half and taking a 47-29 lead into the fourth.
Mosby led all scorers with 19 points. LaCour added 12, Green nine and Washington eight. LaCour and Washington each had two 3-pointers.
White Castle (7-7), under coach Tammy Pierce, reeled off three wins in a tournament at Walker last week.
The Lady Bulldogs opened tourney play with a 63-33 loss to host Walker Thursday before rebounding to defeat Lutcher 53-28 on Friday and Grace King 41-40 and Amite 52-28 on Saturday.
East Iberville traveled to Donaldsonville on Monday and will go to Plaquemine Jan. 3.
St. John hosts Catholic - Pointe Coupee on Friday and Christian Life on Monday.
White Castle traveled to Riverside Academy on Monday and will compete in a tournament at Assumption beginning Friday.
