PLAQUEMINE - Plaquemine Senior High School only led by three in a low scoring first half before taking control in the third quarter for a 35-25 non-district victory over East Iberville on Friday night.

The Lady Green Devils (11-8), under coach Brannon Dillon, also defeated Episcopal 39-37 on Monday and open District 6-4A play Tuesday hosting Belaire.

"No matter how you look at it, we are still young but after this year there will be no excuses," Dillon said. "I am just trying to get everybody some experience. We missed a lot of layups in the first half but in the third quarter, they started to finish."

The Lady Tigers (0-12), under coach Cormanda Grace-Green, open District 8-1A play on Tuesday at West St. John.

"We had a lot of turnovers and Plaquemine capitalized on them," Green said. "We are young but with each game, the girls are improving more and more. When district comes around, we hope to shock some people."

Kiffani Young and Tatyanna Jones each had eight to lead Plaquemine. Asia Nelson and Jernasha Collins each added six, Myiesha Bell four, Taejah Watkins two and Shauniece Mitchell one.

Jasmine Mosby had a game-high 12 for East Iberville. Alanah Washington added six, Taylor Green three and Chauncie LaCour and Galencia Daville each two.

Plaquemine led 11-8 at the half before taking a 27-12 lead into the fourth behind Nelson's transition baskets and Jones' inside buckets.

East Iberville cut it to the final margin with 1:50 remaining courtesy Mosby's 3-pointer and layup off a steal and Washington's trey but got no closer.
