White Castle too much for Lions in 8-1A opener

WHITE CASTLE - White Castle High School built a 22-point first quarter lead and never looked back on the way to a 100-27 District 8-1A opening victory over Ascension Christian on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs (6-11, 1-0), under coach Troy Green, also defeated Family Christian 60-43 on Tuesday. White Castle hosts St. John Friday and travels to Ascension Catholic Tuesday.

White Castle led 24-2 going into the second quarter and 48-15 at the half before taking a 78-21 lead into the fourth.

Jacory Washington had a game-high 16 points for the Bulldogs. Chris Green added14 including two 3-pointers, Ja'Tyre Carter 12, Harold Zachary 10, Tyidous Lang nine, Orthello Batiste eight, Samson Westley and Swayne Edwards each seven, Earl Branch six on two 3-pointers, Robert Franklin five, Clinton Hall four and Byron Pierre two.

Franklin, Edwards and Lang each had one 3-pointer.
