Bulldogs too much for Southern Lab in Hall of Fame Classic

BATON ROUGE - White Castle High School took control in the second quarter and put Southern Lab away in the fourth for a 59-47 non-district victory in the Hall of Fame Basketball Classic at Baton Rouge Community College’s Bonne Sante Wellness Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (10-11), under coach Troy Green, have tentatively set up District 8-1A makeup games postponed due to wintery weather with East Iberville Thursday and West St. John Saturday. White Castle also travels to Ascension Christian on Friday.

“This is a good for us going into the meat of our district schedule,” Green said. “A game like this is just what we needed. We got to see where we are as a team against a quality opponent.”

White Castle jumped out to a 11-10 lead heading into the second quarter and extended it to 23-17 at halftime before taking a 35-28 lead into the fourth

Ja’Tyre Carter led the Bulldogs with a game-high 20 points. Samson Westley added 12, JaCorey Washington 11, Swayne Edwards five, Moses Young and Tyidous Lang each four and Robert Franklin three.

Westley, Edwards and Franklin each had one 3-pointer.

Ray White led the Kittens (7-11) with 18 points. Bladrick Veal and Deion Rainey each added 10, Shannon Forman four, Chris Allen three and Dontrell Carr one.
