DRY CREEK - White Castle High School could not keep pace with East Beauregard in a 55-40 Class 1A bi-district playoff loss on Thursday night.

The No. 24 seed Lady Bulldogs finish the season with an overall record of 15-16. Ninth-seeded East Beauregard (21-5) fell in the regionals Monday to No. 8 Southern Lab 51-23 at the F.G. Clark Activity Center in Baton Rouge.

“It was a hard loss,” White Castle coach Tammy Pierce said. “Offensively, we just had a bad night. Nothing was falling for us. Everything we put up, it wouldn’t go down and once they saw that, they pretty much clogged the lane and played a zone defense daring us to out shoot them.

“It was a rough year but we are young and have a lot to look forward to. Having an inside presence last year made us more balanced and took some pressure off the other girls. Plus, we had a lot of injuries here and there that sidelined us with only six players.”

Shylar O’Bear led the Lady Bulldogs with a game-high 16 points including two 3-pointers. Skylar O’Bear added 14 with two treys, Alaina Williams four, Blessing Franklin three, Brooklyn Falcon two and Ashanti Knight one. Franklin had one 3-pointer.

Sam Underbakke and Caitlin Johnson each had 12 points to lead the Lady Trojans. Jordan Bushnell added 11, Carlee Herrington 10, Taylor Brown seven and Hailey Harper three.  Underbakke had three 3-pointers and Herrington one.

East Beauregard led 7-4 after the first quarter before extending it to 24-14 at the half behind six second quarter points from Johnson and Underbakke each.

Johnson had six again in the third quarter as the Lady Trojans extended the lead slightly to 36-25 going into the final frame.
