St. John competes in St. Joseph Academy Cross Country Invite

BATON ROUGE - St. John the Evangelist High School's cross country team competed in the St. Joseph Academy Cross Country Invitational at Highland Park on Saturday morning.

The Eagles are coached by Cynthia Prouty. St. John's boys team placed 38th.

Zack Hurst finished in 24 minutes for 279th place overall, while Joseph Zito crossed in 25:14.15 for 306th place and Jacob David and Justin Maranto each finished in 25:14.15 for 312th and 313th place.

Dylan Hurst also finished in 25:14.15 for 315th place while Jacob Richard, Colby Sadden, Mason LeBlanc and Christopher Patin each finished in 25:14.15 for 329th, 330th, 331st and 332nd place.

Zachary Albright of St. Paul's won the race in 15:19.56 followed by teammate Eric Coston in 15:31.81, Episcopal's Bryan Stamey in 15:47.12 and Ascension Catholic's Zach Capello in 15:57.84.

St. Paul's won the team title followed by Catholic of Baton Rouge, Brother Martin and John Curtis Christian School.

Annie Hill of host St. Joseph's won the girls' race in 18:12.44 followed by Mandeville's Oliva Murphy in 18:15.25, Patrick Taylor's Celia Zaeringer in 18:24.66 and Dominican's Mia Meydrick in 18:41.59.

Mandeville won the team title followed by St. Joseph's, Catholic of Pointe Coupee and Dominican.
