PHS, SJHS compete in Catholic High Cross Country Invite

Plaquemine Nariko Gillis competes in the LHSAA Class 4A state track meet last season. Gillis placed 149th in the Catholic High School Cross Country Invitational Saturday.

BATON ROUGE - Plaquemine and St. John's cross country teams competed in the Catholic High School Cross Country Invitational at Highland Park on Saturday morning.

Plaquemine's Nariko Gillis placed 149th in the three-mile girls' varsity race with a time of 24:55.15. Trinity Riley was 209th in 20:20.44.

Cameron Garner of Plaquemine was 223rd in the three mile boys' varsity race finishing in 20:31.94 followed by Jamie Lawless (21:38.81) in 244th place, Demetrius Franklin (23:19.15) in 273rd place, Ryan Roberts (23:52.12) in 280th place, Devin James (25:23.53) in 292nd place and Kirkland Jones (26:29.22) in 296th place.

St. John's Jamison Traigle placed 160th in the boys' two mile junior varsity race with a time of 14:42.03 just ahead of teammate Benjamin Bucher, who crossed in 14:42.41. Kade LeBlanc placed 199th in 15:37.41 followed by Barrett Gomez (16:30.53) in 222nd place, Holden Bezet (16:41.75) in 227th place, Dylan Hurst (17.02.75) in 238th place, Jake Stassi (17:07.06) in 241st place and Preston Acosta (18:47.72) in 263rd place.
