Game plan: LHSAA football teams ready for fall scrimmages

PLAQUEMINE - LHSAA football teams have wrapped up a week of practice and most have scrimmages scheduled for this week.
Plaquemine, under coach Paul Distefano, hosts West Feliciana in a fall scrimmage at 5 p.m. at Andrew Canova Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 22. The Green Devils were 6-5 overall and 4-1 in district play a year ago advancing to the Class 4A playoffs. They held a intersquad scrimmage Saturday.
"We are getting better everyday," Distefano said. "The kids and coaches are working hard. We are going to find out how good we are on Thursday.
"Everybody is excited about the chance to game plan against somebody else. The kids are anxious to hit on somebody other than each other."
White Castle, under coach Lamar Thomas, travels to Glen Oaks on Thursday, Aug. 22 for a fall scrimmage with Glen Oaks and Madison Prep at 5:30 p.m. The Bulldogs were 9-3 a year ago and 4-1 in district advancing to the Class 1A regionals.
