LHSAA seeking all-star football game nominations

BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) is currently accepting nominations for student-athletes to participate in the 2013 East-West All-Star Football Games. The deadline for coaches to nominate a player is Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013.
"This will be the first time in 11 years that we have the opportunity to showcase the top football talent that this state produces," said B.J. Guzzardo, LHSAA assistant executive director. "We need our football coaches to nominate their players for a chance to display the talents of their student-athletes in this prestigious event."
Players chosen for the 2013 East-West All-Star Football Game will report for practice on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013. The game will take place on Saturday, Dec. 21 at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La.
Prior to the 2013 game, football all-stars in Louisiana played against Texas all-stars in the Bayou Bowl, which took place each June for the past 11 years. The Bayou Bowl has been canceled as its sponsors have decided to cease their sponsorships.
