WATSON – Live Oak scored on all four of its first half possessions on the way to a 34-0 shutout of St. John on Friday night in jamboree play.

The Eagles were led by Chris Kelly who rushed for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Sellers had a 90-yard touchdown run in the second half nullified by a penality.

St. John and quarterback Hunter Schnebelen could get nothing going offensively.

"We've got some growing up to do but it was good to get hit in the mouth and see how we're going to respond," St. John coach Oliver "Crickett" Crockett said. "We'll come ready to work next week."

Live Oak coach Tut Musmeche previously coached St. John in 2011.

The Eagles open the season at Brusly, a 36-0 winner over Fontainebleau in the Live Oak Jamboree, on Friday night. St. John finished 2-7 last season in Mike Dugan's only year at the helm. The Panthers were 9-4 and advanced to the Class 3A regionals under Erik Willis, another former St. John coach that led the Eagles to the LHSAA Prep Classic on two separate occasions.
