Lusher Charter too much for East Iberville in jamboree

NEW ORLEANS - Lusher Charter School scored four first half touchdowns and never looked back in a 40-0 jamboree victory over East Iberville on Friday at Brees Family Field.

The Lions outgained East Iberville 236-53 in total yardage with 167 of it coming through the air.

Lusher quarterback Louis Landrum completed 4-of-6 passes including touchdowns from 70  and 45 yards respectively to Jamar Jones and Keyan Williams.

Bruce Murray and Joshua Barney each rushed for one touchdown and 30 yards.

In the second half, Nick Albert returned a kickoff 52 yards for a touchdown and Jalen Stewart returned a blocked punt 30 yards for a score.

East Iberville, under coach John Young, rushed for 67 yards on 17 attempts but threw two interceptions. The Tigers also fumbled a total of five times losing two.

The Tigers open the season on Friday night at Pointe Coupee Central in Morganza. East Iberville was 3-6 last season, while the Cougars were 8-3 advancing to the Class 1A regionals.
