PLAQUEMINE - The season for Plaquemine High defensive lineman Davon Godchaux ended practically before it began.

Coach Paul Distefano confirmed Monday that the 6-foot-4, 265-pound Godchaux will miss the rest of the season with two torn knee ligaments, including a torn ACL suffered in a season-opening loss to East Ascension.

Distefano said doctors told Godchaux early Monday the results of tests done last week. He is scheduled to have surgery Friday.

Though he is considered one of Louisiana's top recruits, Godchaux had not committed to a college. He was rated the No. 10 prospect in Louisiana and No. 2 among the state's defensive line prospects. Godchaux planned to wait until December to commit.
