Staff Report

GONZALES – East Iberville notched its first District 6-1A win of the year last Friday when they staved off feisty Ascension Christian, 36-33.

East Iberville quarterback Dylan Raven passed for two touchdowns in the Tiger victory over Ascension Christian last week in Gonzales.

A scoreless first quarter became a battle in which the Tigers staved off the Lions for a 28-20 lead at halftime.

East Iberville maintained the lead the entire game.

“This really helps us as we get toward the playoffs,” head coach Justin Joseph said. “We played well and never gave up the momentum throughout the game, and that’s something we will need when we face St. John.”

Ashuntis Brooks led the Tiger rushing attack with 130 yards on eight carries for EIHS, which improved to 3-5.

He scored on runs of 70 and 73 yards to propel East Iberville.

Quarterback Dylan Raven threw touchdown passes to Traveon Perkins and Dillon Dunn to propel the Tigers. East Iberville travels Friday night to Plaquemine to face St. John in a pivotal District 6-1A battle.
