Plaquemine defeats Bengals in boys soccer

PLAQUEMINE - Plaquemine defeated Belaire 4-3 in the District 6-II, Class 4A opener for both teams last week at Andrew Canova Green Devil Stadium.

The Green Devils (1-3, 1-0), under coach Josue Carranza, were led by Collin Zito with a hat track three goals. Justin Maniscalco added one goal and Colby Landry had two saves.

Christian Preston, R. Navarrete and M. Hernandez each had one goal for Belaire (0-3, 0-1). W. Creighton had six saves and H. Ramirez three.

Also competing in District 6-II is St. Michael, Lutcher, Broadmoor and Tara.

Plaquemine opened the season with a 4-0 loss to Christian Life Nov. 12, before falling to Shaw 1-0 Nov. 19 and Walker 3-0 Nov. 28.

The Green Devils played Tara Wednesday and begin play in the Holiday Classic on Monday before tangling Lutcher next Wednesday.
