PLAQUEMINE – St. John the Evangelist used four extra base hits including two home runs to propel past Parkview Baptist 8-4 on Thursday night at Lady Eagle Park.

The Lady Eagles (4-4), under coach Oliver "Cricket" Crockett, also defeated Winnfield 13-7 Friday before falling to DeRidder 8-7 and Oak Hill 6-5 on Saturday in a tournament at Grant. St. John begins co-hosting the Bayou Plaquemine Classic on Friday after hosting St. Amant Tuesday and Ascension Christian Thursday to begin District 9-1A play.

"We hit the ball hard and played well tonight," Crockett said. "It was a good job and I was proud of them. Parkview is always that team to measure yourself against. We still made some mistakes we have to fix but all in all it was a good team win."

Kamryn Theriot earned the win in the circle striking out seven over seven innings, while surrendering eight hits and walking two. Theriot also was 2-for-2 at the plate with a three-run home run.

Brooklyn Pearce was 1-for-2 with a solo home run while Keri Yarbrough was 1-for-1 with a double and two runs and RBIs and Kyndal Guillory was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Jessie Brown hit a double and drove in a run, Shelbi Strickland and Samantha Rivet each had a run and stolen base, Payton Passantino added an RBI, Alana Blanchard scored a run and Carlee Smith stole a base.

Victoria Consterdine took the loss for Parkview (0-8) allowing four hits over four innings. Alyssa McVicker also surrendered four hits over two innings.

Lexie Dautel (two RBIs), Nicky Dawson and Morgan Acosta were each 2-for-4 at the plate.

Parkview jumped out to a 1-0 lead with three consecutive singles to open the contest but the Lady Eagles quickly answered.

Following a double steal, Brown's grounder to the pitcher produced a run after Theriot drew a lead off walk and Guillory lined off the pitcher. Yarbrough was hit by a pitch to add another after Pearce drew a walk to load the bases.

Pearce's towering solo shot just inside the left field foul pole came in the bottom of the third after Brown almost sent another to the centerfield wall for the first out. Passantino dropped a hit in front of left to add a run following Yarbrough's walk making it 4-1.

Peyton lined by short in the fifth to drive in McVicker who reached on an error but again, St. John answered.

Yarbrough's double to the left gap scored pinch running Rivet after Pearce drew a leadoff walk.

Theriot then sent a line drive over the left field wall in the gap to the peanut gallery putting the Lady Eagles ahead 8-2 after Blanchard drew a walk. Guillory followed with a liner to center but was thrown out at home following a throw around after she stole second.

Parkview posted two runs in the seventh before Theriot struck out Peyton looking to end the game.
