Lady Devils' Williams, Russ selected to All-State track and field team

Baton Rouge High sprinter Mikiah Brisco and West Monroe javelin thrower Rebekah Wales were selected Outstanding Track and Field Performer when the Louisiana Sports Writers Association released the All-State track and field team recently.

Plaquemine sprinter Alissa Williams was selected to the team in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Jamira Russ was chosen in the discuss throw and the Lady Green Devils' 4x200 meter relay team landed a spot as well.

Williams won the Class 4A state title in the 100 crossing in 11.80, the third best time in the state. Williams also posted the fifth best time in the 200 this season finishing in 24.51.

Russ was selected all-state in the discus with a throw of 128.2, the third best in the state this season.

The Lady Devils' 4x200 meter relay team of Williams, Tori Williams, Myiesha Bell and Kiffani Young was selected All-State with a time of 1:42.78, the sixth best time this season.

Lakeside's Chris Lewis and St. Paul's Zachary Albright were chosen boys Outstanding Track Performer and John Curtis' Anthony Taylor was selected Outstanding Field Performer.
