Lady Devils claim Westside Relays meet

PORT ALLEN - Plaquemine’s girls won the team title at the Westside Relays on Friday at Port Allen High School.
The Lady Green Devils accumulated 114 points for first place ahead of Brusly’s 107 and Opelousas’ 93.
Port Allen won the boys’ team title with 156 points, followed by Opelousas with 146 and Northeast with 55. Plaquemine placed fifth with 51 points.
Plaquemine’s Nariko Gillis won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:33, while Taejah Watkins won the triple jump with a leap of 32-4 and Jernasha Collins placed first in the javelin with a throw of 111-6.
Alessi Wiley was second in the triple jump with a leap of 32 feet and Asia Nelson was second in the discus with a throw of 98-10.
Shelbi Johnson won the 1,600 meter run in 5:59, while Aldrianna Dupre placed second in the 400 with a time of 59.16 and Rachel Ellis was third in the 800 finishing in 2:40.
The Lady Devils’ relay teams won the 4x400 in 4:16.50 and placed second in the 4x100 in 52.41
Saudi Williams won the boys pole vault clearing 9-6 and Ryan Roberts placed second in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 12 minutes and third in the 1,600 meter run finishing in 5:17.
Plaquemine will compete in the Cora Texas Sugar Relays Friday at White Castle High School.
