Lady Eagles win two in South La. Invite

BATON ROUGE - St. John the Evangelist opened the South Louisiana Invitational at Broodmoor with a 21-25, 25-16, 15-12 victory over Woodlawn before falling to Ben Franklin 21-25, 13-25 and Northside 24-25, 24-25 and rebounding over Belaire 25-14, 25-12.

The Lady Eagles (3-3), under coach Chase Mancuso also defeated Ascension Christian 27-25, 25-19, 25-17 on Tuesday. St. John will participate in a tournament at Brusly this weekend and host St. Charles Catholic Tuesday.

Victoria Weaver had 12 kills, seven aces and three digs against the Lady Lions. Kaycee Keller added six kills, four digs and two blocks and Payton Passantino had six kills, two aces and three digs.

Against Woodlawn, Weaver had eight kills and two aces, Passantino five kills and two aces, Keller two kills and four aces, Carlee Smith 16 digs and six aces and Alex Carbo eight digs.

Emily Delahaye and Passantion each had four kills against Franklin, while Keller added three kills and one ace and Smith had 11 digs.

Keller had six kills against Northside, while Weaver collected four, Claire Pearce had four aces, Keri Yarbrough two kills and five digs, Smith 16 digs, Alana Blanchard nine digs and Carbo seven digs.

Weaver and Passantino each had four kills against Belaire, while Pearce had six aces and Smith had 11 digs and two aces. Keller had three kills and two aces and was selected to the All-Tournament Team.
