Plaquemine High's Lady Devils win two of three matches in last week's games

Plaquemine High's Jessica Marshall returns a shot in the Lady Devils match against Scotlandville High last Thursday.

In matches played last week, the Plaquemine High Lady Devils won against Belaire and Scotlandville, but dropped their set against Catholic High of Pointe Coupee.

Against Belaire last Tuesday, the Lady Devils won by margins of 25-2, 25-16 and 25-20, with lots of help from Breanna Dillon with 10 kills and three aces and Jayla Hall with 29 assists, 2 aces and a dig.

Others contributing to the win included Diamone Richardson with 8 kills and 3 blocks, Jiara Deggs with 4 kills, Te'Jar Jenkins with 2 kills, 6 aces and a dig, De'Juan Williams with five kills, 1 block, 2 digs and an ace, Jessi Marshall with 5 digs and 2 aces, Claire Blanchard with a single dig, and Kayleigh Snell with two digs and two aces.

The Plaquemine High girls were swept by the Lady Hornets of New Roads' Catholic High-Pointe Coupee, losing 18-25, 19-25 and 14-26 at home Wednesday.

Marshall led the team with 12 digs and a kill, with lots of assistance from Williams with 7 kills, 2 digs and an ace, and Jayla Hall with 16 assists, a kill and a dig.

Other players posting numbers in the matchup were Dillon with three kills, 1 dig and an ace, Richardson with 2 kills, Deggs chalked up a kill as did Snell along with 2 digs and an ace, while Jenkins and Abby Blanchard put 2 digs on the stat sheet. 

At home against Scotlandville last Thursday, the Lady Devils pulled off a 3-0 sweep against the visiting Lady Jaguars, with scores of 25-19, 25-11 and 25-23. 

Leading the team in stats were Hall with 29 assists and 2 digs along with Williams who posted 8 kills, 3 digs and 2 aces.

Posting solid numbers in the match were Richardson with 7 kills and a block, Dillon with 6 kils and 3 aces, Jenkins with 3 kills, 2 digs and 3 aces, Marshall with 6 digs and an ace, Blanchard with 6 digs and an ace.
