Texas State basketball coach Danny Kaspar has resigned from his position, KVUE reported Tuesday night.

Kaspar had been under investigation by university officials after allegations that he had made racist statements to his student athletes in multiple occasions.

Jaylen Shead, who was the university’s starting point guard for 2018-19, is among the players who accused Kaspar of racism in June. Shead is no longer a student at the university and has transferred to Washington State.

The university announced the resignation through the following statement obtained by KVUE:

“Texas State Director of Athletics Larry Teis announced that he accepted the resignation of Head Basketball Coach Danny Kaspar.

"Teis also announced that Terrence Johnson would serve as head men’s basketball coach for the 2020-21 season. The university will not be making any additional statements.”

Texas State University officials did not respond to requests from the American-Statesman for comment via email or phone Tuesday evening.
