How Tennessee Titans' safety Amani Hooker is becoming a veteran player in his fourth season

Amani Hooker knows the Tennessee Titans' defense from back to front. With one season already as a consistent starter at safety, Hooker doesn't need to think as much about the defensive scheme.
Instead, he's focused on small-scale improvements, perfecting the details to help him be one step ahead going into his fourth year.
"Now it's about trying to understand the offense is trying to attack us, and maybe I can get a jump on a play," Hooker said Saturday after the fourth day of training camp.

The 2019 fourth-round NFL Draft pick out of Iowa is also spending time helping the younger players. As one of the more experienced safeties in the Titans' young defensive backs room, Hooker is passing along the lessons he learned early in his career.
"I can help the young guys ... and bring them along to get guys up to speed so that when preseason starts they're ready to go as well," Hooker said.
He and Kevin Byard have also worked on their relationship this offseason. The two worked individually with safeties coach Scott Booker in the offseason, opening up new play styles, coverages and lines of communication.
"We definitely showed what we can do last year, but when we watch film, we've seen that there's a lot of things that we left out there that this year we're going to make up for," Hooker said.
Hooker started all 12 games he appeared in last season after suffering a foot injury in Week 1. Hooker finished the season with 62 totals tackles and one interception.
"The more I played, the more consistent and comfortable I can be out there," Hooker said.
