The Tennessee Titans elevated veteran linebacker Joe Jones and running back Trenton Cannon from the practice squad for Sunday's season opener against the New York Giants, the team announced Saturday.

Kickoff at Nissan Stadium is 3:25 p.m. and FOX has the broadcast.

Jones and Cannon will revert to the practice squad after the game.

Jones will provide much needed depth at inside linebacker, where the Titans have just three players on the active roster: starters David Long Jr. and Zach Cunningham, and reserve Dylan Cole. Rookie sixth-round pick Chance Campbell was placed on injured reserve Friday, meaning he'll have to miss at least the first four games of the regular season.

Cannon should factor heavily on special teams. Special teams coach Craig Aukerman mentioned Cannon as one of the team's kick returning options.
